4th Quarter Pottery

Students are working furiously to finish their pottery as it is drying out with our spring break and weekends. I truly think these students are working hard and at their best. Enjoy the photos below.
6th Grade Coil Pots
These students are finishing up today on their pottery unit. I really like the profile forms that many of the students are creating. They are also learning about goal setting and reflection to pin point their strengths and improvement areas. Great Job students!
7th Grade Clay Animal Pots
Students animals are really taking form. They are beginning to add detail that will make their animal truly come to life. (Skills and Standards: 1. Critical thought through use of techniques, attaching, and forming of clay. 2. Cooperation with classmates on tools, beginning and ending the class, routine and use of room and materials. 3. Expression and communication of an idea.)
8th Grade Clay Mugs
These fantastic clay mugs are the eight grader's final clay project of DMS. It can be quite an exciting process for the students and I as they are showcasing what they can truly accomplish. I stress, critical thinking, high quality appearance, construction, and creativity.

Students are working on painting and drawing in between clay projects. Eighth graders are learning about color theory and mixing intermediate colors as well as the relationship between the color families. Consistency when painting is key! Students in sixth grade are working their way through a zentangle animal project. Drawing the animal outline is first. We will be learning about zentangle patterns next.
