Progress in the Art Room6th Grade: Sixth grade students have been working on developing a clay project using two clay techniques (pinch and coil). Each student has also written a goal and is working on making that goal a priority. Student focus on forming coils, attaching coils (texture), or creating a balanced wall form. While these skills are interdependent, if a student feels successful, they can prioritize and focus more on another skill. 7th Grade: Seventh grade students have been developing clay animal projects. Students must design a cylinder and matching lid. Each student decides on a 2-d (flat slab) animal or a 3-D (pinch pot) animal. All students work from printed photography, drawing of their own, clay technique videos, and then problem solve through the process. Pictures will be coming soon. 8th Grade Progress:
Students have moved on to working on the Hidden Color Wheel. This project focuses on neatness (appearance), develops color theory awareness and teaches students the watercolor technique (balancing water and paint). While they are working on this new project, their clay projects are drying and almost in the greenware/stone stage and ready to be fired! |
