Final 6th Grade PotterySixth graders have finished their coil pots. I'm loving the forms and the techniques students learned throughout this project.
Final 7th Grade PotteryMy students in 7th grade are all done with their clay projects. I am so proud of their hard work, problem solving, and the ability to take a risk. It is so hard to just begin some days and I feel each student improved and learned a ton through this project.
7th Grade ClayHappy Friday! Today is the last day for our 7th grade clay projects as we have a three day weekend. So, the students will be scurrying to finish adding their details. Here's to hoping they can get them done! Seventh grade students have been creating this animal pot while learning to combine several different clay techniques. At the heart of the project, student really learn to attach and keep their clay from drying out. Which animals do you see beginning to be communicated?
6th Grade Cultural Pinch Pots6th Grade students created pinch pots for their first clay project. Each student learned about one culture of their choice, forming clay with their hands, how to keep their clay from drying out, and that texture is important. Some students also had time to learn about attaching. I am so excited about the student projects!
Quarter 1: First ProjectsOur first set of projects is finished here in the art room! I am so impressed with the hard work my students put in to get these clay masterpieces done. Everyone did a great job! Below you will find the 8th grade clay mugs. Students were to meet these requirements: 1. create a theme, 2. create three attachments, 3. unify and balance the attachments. Each student worked hard to meet these but I always tell my students that problem solving and time don't always work together. Each student had their fair share of success and frustration. So, If you see a project with only 1 or 2 attachments, you can bet a student tried something that didn't work and so they made a needed change. As always, please leave us a comment! 8th Grade PotteryStudents in 8th grade have be working carefully to develop a clay mug with a theme. Can you think of the theme they are trying to communicate?
Welcome Back and 6th Grade Art!Wow! What a great start to the year. You know me as Mrs. Christensen and I am so excited to be back. We are past the routine part of classes and I think the students are excited to be in the process part of their projects!
6th Grade Students in 6th grade have been working on forming pinch pots and adding cultural details. Each student is learning which tools work best and how to take care of their clay so it doesn't dry out or get to wet.
