Here are a few of my favorite artist quotes. Words to live by!

“Creativity takes courage.” ~Henri Matisse

“The main thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble, to live.”
~Auguste Rodin

“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for.”
~Georgia O'Keeffe

“A Good artist has less time than ideas.” ~Martin Kippenberger
It's officially my last week as a Tiger! The last 11 years have made me the teacher I am today and I look forward to learning more in the years to come. Thank you all my great friends and wonderful students! I will truly miss you all!

Knitting: New tools for knitting!

Picture
Student focus this month started with finger knitting. All the students (4th through 8th) were tied into wearable art.

The best parts about this project are that you only need yarn (your hands are the tools) and it takes no time at all to create something you love. Even 4 and 5 year olds can get into the knitting groove. (My 6 year old loves it and it keeps her hands busy!)

To learn how to finger knit yourself, visit my wearable art page and watch the youtube video.

Some students already knew how to knit with needles and so I allowed them to bring their supplies to art class.
  • If a student forgot or couldn't bring them we used pencils! I found a cool site that suggested the pencil idea. What a cheap way to get students hooked on wearable art!
