Stuck at Home Project #1
Objective: Create a beaded design independently and work through problem solving. You will also be working on fine motor skills!
Materials needed:
- Pony Beads
- Tipped Yarn (so the end will go through the beads easily)
- Printable Graph paper (or order from Amazon) if you choose to create your own design.
- Bead Design Page - Watch videos on your choice. I would recommend creating a letter first as it is easier.
- Design your own:
- Search google for bead animals/designs/pony bead art.
- Draw out your design on paper (use a pencil...seems like a no brainer but my kids like to use pens).
- Create as you designed the others.
If you are not interested in beads, try a different project from the 4-5 Project page or 6-8 Project page. As always, any project can be as complex or simple as you desire. My 9 year old son created the letter 'A' in the picture above and went on to create his own shark (pictured below). These were only developed as I created projects for the grade I taught. Please use your own creativity and I urge you to let your own child work through the process. (My son had to tie string together and figure out what to with the knot and cut ends.) Struggles are ok. There is not a grade for this! Your child does not have to be perfect the first time. Teach them to keep trying!
