Hello from the Art Room
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
― Edgar Degas
6th Grade:The first quarter sixth graders are off to a great start. They are learning to be carefully work with the clay, how to really use their hands as tools, and focus on each step without rushing to the end. Pinch pots are the focus first and then we will move to coil pots. | 7th Grade: Students in the seventh grade classes are moving quickly through the skills they learned last year. The newest skill is creating a cylinder out of slabs. This proves to be difficult skill each year but gives students a great learning experience. Next week, students will begin to give their clay life and see their animal truly take its form. Here are a few snapshots of the drawings and creating the body out of pinch pots. | 8th Grade: Eight grade students are rebuilding their slab, coil, and attaching skills through the small pendants. The next project is to develop a well built and creative clay mug. Students will be problem solving, self-analyzing, and evaluating every step of the way. |
